This 2022 has been a productive one for MrSoul, Original Breeder of Brothers Grimm Seeds. He has already released Pineapple XX, Space Queen XX, and Durban Nights XX. And currently there are a handful of new strains being tested this 2022 by growers, primarily regular customers of Brothers Grimm Seeds.

Some of these new tester seeds may become permanent seed menu and bulk seed options, but not until the year of testing by customers is complete. Your feedback and comparisons to our own results will determine if we make these strains menu items. Please let us know how you like them.

The first new tester seeds given to customers of Brothers Grimm Seeds was Grimm Mints. Grimm Mints lineage is Kush Mints (FEM) x Pineapple Cinderella 99 (FEM).

A lanky Kush Mints F2 female we tested in 2020 caught our interest when we examined the buds after harvest. We found “off the chart” strength, and absolutely stunning bag appeal. However, regarding the plant herself we wished she had stronger branches, thicker colas, and less stretch when flowering. So, we decided to pair her up with the C99 breeding female which has proven to pass on genes for heavy yield and fruity terpenes.

Resin production, strength, terpene profile, and flowering period of Kush Mints are all very well-matched to the same qualities in C99, so we feel strongly that we’re going to get the desired results from these female seeds. We’ve bred into the progeny mainly structural improvements such as the greater flower to leaf ratio of C99 – a trademark of Brothers Grimm Seeds.

Our goal is for these seeds to produce plants with a more compact structure, conducive to indoor growing, while maintaining the heavy yield, intense terpenes, high strength and resin production.

Then came Soul Cookies, a cross between GSC (FEM) and Cinderella 99 (FEM).

Alas, Grimm Truffles is here! Grimm Truffles lineage is White Truffles (FEM) and Cinderella 99 (FEM).

One day MrSoul noticed a series of photos of White Truffles online. The resin production on this plant was outrageous; sticky trichomes grew so thick they looked like white fur covering the leaf and flower surfaces. S1 seeds from the pheno in the pictures were available, so we bought a couple dozen. They grew surprisingly Indica-like in structure, with huge leaves. They were uniformly BIG plants with not only heavy resin production but also heavy yield. Also, the flowers turned dark purple toward the end of their 60-day flowering period and the buds swelled to huge sizes and smelled incredibly sweet and funky!

As we had long wanted to add a selection to our menu with more Indica traits, we decided to play matchmaker to these monster sized plants. We selected our special Cinderella 99 breeding female, known for her yield and strength to produce pollen to pollinate the White Truffles this creating these female hybrids.

Our goal is for these seeds to produce plants with a more compact structure, conducive to indoor growing, while maintaining the heavy yield, intense terpenes, high strength and resin production.

Stay tuned for more information about the final strain to be introduced this year with tester seeds, Durban Jack, a Durban Thai x Jack Herer variety bred by MrSoul.
